Support United Flight Attendants on July 16th

Stand with United Flight Attendants on July 16th!

United Airlines flight attendants will be picketing the airline on July 16th to demand a contract after years of delays and stalling tactics by United’s management. Flight attendants from other airlines are encouraged to show support for United’s flight attendants as they work to halt a trend in airline labor negotiations that forces workers to endure outdated contracts agreed to before airlines began enjoying the highest profits in their history.

United Pilots to Join Day of Action

ALPA, which represents the pilots at United, is urging their pilots to join flight attendants on the picket lines.

The following message was sent to pilots from ALPA Strategic Planning & Strike Preparedness Captain Pieter Velzeboer:

“The Flight Attendants are part of our crew and part of our team; and they rate the dignity and respect a quality contract reflects.  I ask you to support them and join them in their Day of Action.  If you have the day off, join them.  If you are working and have the ability to do a few circles in their walks, please do (just remember to remain cognizant of your duty limitations). They will appreciate whatever action you take to support their Action.

Another way to show our solidarity with our fellow union employees is to wear something red, the new color of the AFA pin unanimously adopted by the CAL, CMI, and UAL AFA MECs that recognizes Flight Attendants’ integral role in the success of United Airlines.

We have an opportunity to show our unity and our resolve: to show that we are one – one group, one airline.  Like strands of fiber that are wound together to make a rope, we come together to make an airline that is stronger than its individual strands.”

Flight Attendants from Other Airlines Invited to Picket #TogetherWeFly

Flight attendants from other airlines are encouraged to show their support by wearing their uniforms and/or something red. Any amount of time or support you are able to devote will not only be appreciated by United flight attendants but also demonstrate the collective strength and solidarity that exists in the profession. When United flight attendants finally achieve the contract they deserve, it will benefit flight attendants throughout the industry.
