American Airlines and JetBlue’s Northeast Alliance Expands to New Cities

As the travel industry recovers, more people are now booking their flights. American Airlines and JetBlue’s Northeast Alliance plans to expand on new cities from Boston and New York. The new routes will also include new countries.

Northeast Alliance and Long-Haul Flights

Northeast Alliance is looking to bring back long-haul travel. It is planning to bring travelers to New Delhi starting October 31. It is going to be thrice a week from New York JFK and will eventually fly daily from November 17 to January 3. This is a bold move considering American Airlines’ last flight to Delhi was from Chicago in March 2012.

American will be using the 273 seater Boeing 777-200. Other American Airlines long-haul international destinations from JFK will include flights to Athens starting June 3, Tel Aviv starting May 6, and Santiago and Rio de Janeiro.

Aside from international flights, American is adding domestic routes between Boston and New York. Flights coming from Cincinnati, St. Louis, and Toronto are headed to Boston. On the other hand, flights from Houston, Oklahoma City, and Omaha, Nebraska are headed to LaGuardia airport in New York. All of these routes are starting on November 2.

Budget Flights From JetBlue

JetBlue, on the other hand, is adding 17 new routes. This includes 7 new cities and 2 new countries. JetBlue looks to land in Canada and Honduras. Plus, there are new cities in the Midwest and Southern US. And because of this, JetBlue is looking to get its parked aircraft back.

Unlike other carriers, JetBlue is a budget airline. Its plan to expand to Vancouver in Canada is something that a lot of travelers are looking forward to. According to JetBlue’s head of revenue and planning Scott Laurence, customers and crew members are asking to add flights going to Canada.

Now that more Americans are traveling, Northeast Alliance anticipates the growing demand for travel in the coming months. This could include increased demand for international travel. Even though it remains low today, a survey suggests that lots of travelers are looking to travel internationally.
