The Ideal Mississippi River Cruise

American Queen Steamboat Company (AQSC) gives travelers the chance to experience the Mighty Mississippi through an iconic steamboat experience.

Guests can enjoy the classic charm of the Mississippi River on cruises that explore the world of Mark Twain and journey through the heart of the antebellum south.

American history comes to life as guests step back in time and visit towns on the upper Mississippi that were founded by early explorers and native tribes, including Joliet, Red Wing and Dubuque.

Spend days on the river spying American bald eagles and viewing rolling farmland as you are transported back to a simpler time, traveling by paddlewheel riverboat.

Upper Mississippi voyages sail between Red Wing (Minneapolis) and Alton (St. Louis) on nine-day itineraries that showcase Mark Twain’s Mississippi. Calls include La Crosse, Wisconsin; Dubuque, Bettendorf and Burlington, Iowa; and Hannibal, Missouri.

Guests have the chance to join shore excursions to tour the Dubuque Museum of Art, the German-American Heritage Center, the Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum, Big River Train Town and more.

On the Lower Mississippi, guests see centuries-old shaded oak trees, elegant antebellum plantations and Civil War memorials as they sail along the river on a classic steamboat.

Sailings on the lower Mississippi River travel between New Orleans and Memphis on the American Queen and the American Duchess.

Onboard the American Duchess and the American Queen, guests will enjoy beautiful accommodations, complimentary wine and beer with dinner, regionally inspired cuisine, Broadway-caliber entertainment, enrichment programs and stories from riverlorians and included shore excursions.
