AmaWaterways has introduced its first television advertising campaign. The 15 and 30-second spots, narrated by executive vice president and co-founder Kristin Karst will air across NBC stations in New York (WNBC), Los Angeles (KNBC) and Miami (WTVJ) this week.
The river cruise company teamed with LX.TV and Skycastle, in-house production teams that serve NBC owned television stations to create the spots and specialized segments about AmaWaterways.
The commercials will run on-air in the three markets and will also be distributed through the stations’ digital/mobile platforms.
AmaWaterways will also be featured in “Open House” and a full episode of the nationally distributed show “1st Look.”
In 2020, AmaWaterways will further expand its campaign to include NBC owned stations in Philadelphia, Dallas/Fort Worth and San Diego.
“We are confident that this strategic TV and digital campaign with NBC owned stations will open our product up to a new generation of travelers,” said Janet Bava, Chief Marketing Officer of AmaWaterways. “We are thrilled to answer the call from our travel agency partners who, for many years, have longed for more consumer awareness around river cruising in general and AmaWaterways specifically.”
The first phase of the television campaign launched on May 13 on NBC stations WNBC, KNBC and WTVJ, which are target markets for AmaWaterways guests.

The launch of the new advertising campaign comes after AmaWaterways introduced the innovative new AmaMagna at an exclusive event in Vilshofen, Germany. The new ship features a number of firsts for river cruising, including a cinema, a pop-up elevator that gives access to the sun deck, a watersports platform and more.
