Passenger Plane Catches Fire, Makes Emergency Landing at Moscow Airport

At least one person was killed during a fire that erupted on an airlines/the-world-s-most-powerful-airline-brand-is-aeroflot.html” target=”_self” rel=”nofollow noopener noreferrer”>Aeroflot passenger plane on Sunday.

The Aeroflot passenger plane, a Sukhoi Superjet 100, took off from Sheremetyevo Airport on Sunday evening carrying 78 people when it airlines/newark-runways-temporarily-closed-from-possible-aircraft-fire.html” target=”_self” rel=”nofollow noopener noreferrer”>caught on fire.

The plane had to make an emergency landing at the airport in Moscow. Video of the aircraft shows it engulfed in large flames as it touched down at the airport. The slides were activated and passengers scrambled to escape.

At least one person has died according to TASS, a Russian news agency, and 10 more are being treated for injuries related to evacuation and the fire.

“The tail part is completely destroyed. Through the twisted metal, rescue workers are trying to get to the last rows of seats, where there may be additional victims,” a source told the Interfax news agency.

It’s not clear what caused the fire, but crew members told TASS that the plane was hit by lightning.
