The One-of-a-Kind Water Adventures at Atlantis Paradise Island

Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas promises a vacation unlike any other.

The list of highlights of this beachfront resort goes on and on and includes world-class golf, spa services and entertainment as well as stellar dining opportunities and one of the top casino experiences in the Caribbean.

Nonetheless, it’s the impressive lineup of water-based activities available to guests of all ages that puts Atlantis Paradise Island over the top. Here are just a few that you won’t find anywhere else:

Aquaventure

Atlantis Paradise Island is home to a 141-acre waterscape known as Aquaventure, where visitors will encounter a mind-boggling 20 million gallons of water.

The largest water park in the Caribbean offers as many as 20 different swimming areas, high-speed water slides, a mile-long river ride featuring rolling rapids and wave surges to keep you guessing and even a kids water-play fort.

Guests will likely need several days to experience it all and can book an Aquaventure Private Cabana to enhance their visit with food and drink service, a refrigerator, personal safe, fan and more.

If that weren’t enough, there are also 11 pools for guests to choose from throughout the property.

Dolphin Cay

Opened in 2007 in response to rescued dolphins left stranded by Hurricane Katrina, Dolphin Cay is among the largest open-air, man-made marine mammal habitats in the world.

The 14-acre environment located on the property’s west side features an expansive lagoon with coves and beaches, more than a half-dozen connected “residential” pools, an education center, an animal rescue-rehabilitation hospital and animal pharmacy as well as a sea lion center, among other highlights.

Guests will not only learn about marine wildlife and contribute to conservation but have the opportunity to get up close and personal with dolphins, sea lions and other animals via immersive activities such as snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding. You can also become a trainer for the day or simply lounge and watch from the beach.

Ruins of Atlantis

Guests at Atlantis Paradise Island can snorkel the Ruins of Atlantis in the 2.7 million gallon Ruins Lagoon. The thrilling one-hour program includes a 30-minute snorkeling adventure that will have guests swimming alongside sharks, spotted rays and tropical fish as they view artifacts inspired by the lost city of Atlantis.

The lagoon is home to more than 20,000 deep-reef and pelagic fish as well as a variety of jacks, snappers and spiny lobster, among other open-water specimens.
