Last May, love was literally in the air for a couple onboard a China Eastern Airlines flight. In a viral YouTube video, a man can be seen down on one knee while holding up a ring to his longtime girlfriend, who just so happens to be one of the flight attendants working. After accepting the proposal, they embrace and the passengers applaud.

The letter further went on to detail that the “private romantic behavior caused turmoil among passengers.” The carrier further claims it was “extremely irresponsible for the safety of passengers.”
The letter has drawn a mixed reaction from social media. Some think the company is being too strict, while others think private affairs should be just that—private.
According to Asia One, in the moment, the woman said, “I really didn’t know my boyfriend will be proposing to me on this flight, thanks for being my witnesses.”
While indeed the proposal could have happened at a different time, I don’t think a termination of the job is justified, and I think it’s safe to say there wasn’t a single passenger in danger due to the big question being popped.
Now, instead of planning their happily ever after together, the woman will either fight the stated grounds for her dismissal or find employment elsewhere. Either way, weddings are insanely expensive and should be a time of joy—not a time of stress as your financial status comes crashing down.
