Thieves Steal Nearly $1 Million in Jewelry from Ritz Hotel in Paris

Police confirmed Monday that robbers swiped $930,000 worth of jewelry from the suite of a Saudi princess at the Hotel Ritz Paris.

According to Reuters.com, the unidentified woman told authorities that while her room did not appear to have been broken into, the nearly $1 million worth of jewelry had gone missing at some point Friday afternoon.

Police confirmed the woman did not have the valuable items in the room’s safe.

Friday’s robbery at the Hotel Ritz Paris was the second of the year after thieves stole millions of dollars worth of jewelry from display cases in January. A spokesman for the Ritz declined to release a comment to Reuters.

The hotel is located on Paris’ Place Vendome, which is the home to many luxury boutiques and jewelry stores. Robbers have targeted the area in recent years, including the theft of jewelry from reality TV star Kim Kardashian in 2016, which occurred only a short distance from the Ritz Hotel.

Paris police said they have continued to increase patrols in the neighborhood.
