Princess Cruises is introducing new tools to facilitate high seas romance travel planning. It’s a natural move for the line made famous with “The Love Boat” TV series. Princess also launched the first weddings at sea.
In celebration of August, aka “romance awareness” month, the line is rolling out two new tools. Namely, the Honeymoon Gift Registry App and a digital Wedding Planner.

The line’s Wedding Planner tool streamlines the entire wedding at sea process. Guests can choose, plan and purchase wedding package and reception options from their computer or smartphone. The tool also offers online help from a personal wedding coordinator.
“Weddings, honeymoons and vow renewals are among the top celebrations that take place on board in the Shops of Princess,” notes Celebration Ambassador and “Love Boat” star Jill Whelan. “A cruise provides the ideal setting to connect with the one you love and celebrate romance.”
Princess guests can also create their own honeymoon website with the Honeymoon Gift Registry App. Available on their IOS device, the App lets couples add items, send out RSVPs and upload photos. The customized wedding website, blog, online photo album, RSVP and Save the Date features can also be posted on social media with the App. And, wedding invitees can use the gift registry to gift money to the couple to spend on their cruise.
As another romance-themed perk, Princess is offering couples the chance to win a Caribbean cruise for two. The winners will also receive jewelry designed by Effy Hematian, whose works are showcased aboard the ships. Guests can enter the Set Sail for Effy’s Romance Sweepstakes throughout August.
In addition to weddings, Princess offers curated celebration packages for other special occasions, such as vow renewals and anniversaries.
The line currently has three new Royal-class ships on order. The next ship set to debut is Sky Princess, in October 2019. Additionally, Princess has announced that two new ships powered by liquified natural gas will be the largest ships in its fleet. They will carry approximately 4,300 guests and are set for delivery in 2023 and 2025. That makes a total of five new Princess ships set to debut between 2019 and 2025.
