Get Up to 40K Bonus Hilton Points for Adding Authorized Users

American Express has been sending out offers to holders of their two Hilton credit cards offering bonuses for adding authorized users and completing minimum spending requirements with the AU cards.

Even those who haven’t gotten the offer in their email have been able to login and add AUs via this link.

The number of bonus points you can earn depends on which version of the Hilton Amex card you have:

  • 10,000 Hilton points per AU on the Hilton Surpass Card from American Express after completing $1,000 minimum spending requirement per AU card within 3 months (maximum 4 AU bonuses; maximum 40,000 total bonus Hilton Honors points)
  • 5,000 Hilton points per AU on the no-annual fee Hilton Card after completing $500 minimum spending requirement per AU card within 3 months (maximum 4 AU bonuses; maximum 20,000 total bonus Hilton Honors points)
For both of these bonuses, the purchases must be made on the authorized user’s card; purchases made on the main cardholder’s card will not count toward the minimum spending requirement. Bonus points will post six to eight weeks after the minimum spending requirement has been reached. New authorized users must be added by September 30, 2017 in order to qualify for bonus points.
Keep in mind that authorized user cards will count toward 5/24, so if someone is not over 5/24 it might be a better idea to skip this offer and have them apply for a Chase credit card instead. However, some people have reported success with calling into Chase and having them manually not count authorized user cards toward the 5/24 limit.
I only have the no-annual fee version of the Hilton card and won’t bother adding AUs and completing minimum spending requirements for 20,000 points, especially considering that the people that would be the easiest for me to add are all under 5/24.
